Their third recording of the song; "Stack O'Lee and Billy Lyons" - 1992, "Stack O Lee" - 2000 and this one.

The Bassholes were an American garage punk duo formed in the early 1990s, consisting of Don Howland on vocals and guitar and Bim Thomas on drums. Known for their raw, lo-fi sound and energetic performances, the band drew heavily from blues, punk, and garage rock influences.

Their EP Out in the Treetops is a notable release in their discography, showcasing their gritty, stripped-down style. The EP includes one of their renditions of "Stack O Lee." The Bassholes' version is characterized by its raw, primal energy, with Howland's distorted guitar and impassioned vocals paired with Thomas's driving, minimalist drumming. Their take on the song stays true to the dark, violent narrative of the original while infusing it with their signature garage punk edge.

The Bassholes' interpretation of "Stack O Lee" reflects their ability to reinterpret classic material through their own unique lens, making it a standout track on the EP. Out in the Treetops as a whole captures the band's DIY ethos and their commitment to a raw, unfiltered sound that resonates with fans of underground rock and blues.
