Daoboy Bob and Sidekicks released the album On My Way in 2007, featuring the track "StaggerLee Redux Y2K+ (School Shootin' Blues)". This song reimagines "Stagger Lee" intertwining it with contemporary themes such as school shootings.
I knew about the mysterious history of Stag before I wrote my version. With so many renderings I wanted to make something relevant to today's troubles. Of course now the shootings aren't just school shootings. It's part of the landscape of a lost compass.
